“Siggi – the best guide!”

There is no doubt that the ice cave we've visited with South East Iceland is amazing, beautiful and extraordinary..However, this tour would be just one more beautiful place on Island if not guided by an amazing person Siggi. He made this visit wonderful. Siggi - the owner and guide of this company is "simply the best"! :) With a lot of knowledge and passion to his country and a lot of respect to the nature. What is more.. with great sense of humour! Really outstanding person. I truly recommend Siggi ad South East Iceland!

We booked with Arctic Adventures online unsure what to expect. The meeting place was very easy to find, and we were quickly pointed towards our tour guide - Bjork. She was immediately welcoming and accommodating, and directed us to our “monster bus”. After a 30 minute off road journey, that Bjork made informative, interesting and fun, we arrived on the edge of Breiðamerkurjökull. After appropriate safety checks we were taken up onto the glacier and through incredible naturally sculpted ice caves. Bjork made sure to tell us the history of Iceland surrounding the glacier as well as the geological features of the glacier itself while ensuring everyone had enough time to appreciate and photograph the beauty of our surroundings. This was one of our favourite experiences in Iceland and would recommend to anyone - it’s a must see!

Must see ice cave!

Fannar was our tour guide and Rannar was our driver (I apologize if I spelled your names wrong!). Anyway, this was definitely one of the highlights of our 7 day adventure. I mean, who gets to go Glacier Hiking and then check out an Ice Cave.... We do! The views and the scenery were stunning and unfortunately the pictures just don't do it justice. Fannar had a great sense of humor while keeping everyone safe. I can tell he's a very experienced tour guide and he has a great way with people. And our driver Rannar did a great job getting us to the glacier and back safely, which if you look the terrain, it's no easy task.

Experience of a lifetime!

Bjork was an amazing tour guide!!!!! We did the Crystal Ice cave tour. I found this to be an easy to manage tour. Very adaptable for all skill levels. Bjork took her time to make sure you felt safe and knew how to use equipment. If we had to wait to enter a cave (due to other groups) she made sure to show you other details so it always felt interesting. I liked the pace, you had plenty of time to explore & take pictured. Truly an amazing experience. Highly recommend this company & Bjork!!

Icredible!!!

Ziggy's trip was one of the top highlights in an 8 day trip filled with amazing experiences. He is knowledgeable, fun, well prepared. He timed our visits to allow us plenty of time in each of three caves. In one cave, we were the only ones there. In the busiest cave (Crystal Cave), he worked it out so that we arrived as large numbers were leaving and we could explore with minimum others. He told us stories and explained the area's history/background on the way to and from the caves. He had equipment for us (i.e., crampons) so we could walk on ice with confidence. Everything about this event was perfect!

My friend and I had booked an ice cave tour with Guide to Iceland, and they never showed up - Siggi was on site and we asked him if he could take us - SERENDIPITY! He is impressively knowledgeable, well-prepared, professional and patient! Gave us time to take lots of pictures, had lots of stories to tell and knows the area like the back of his hand. When in Iceland, an ice cave tour with Siggi is an absolute MUST! Thanks again, Siggi, for an amazing experience !!!

We made our way to the lagoon to take pictures and made an impromptu decision to join the ice cave tour. It was lucky they have slots for us and we immediately paid for it! The tour has 6 of us. It was the perfect size! The other groups went 30 mins earlier than us and Siggi our guide brought us to the least crowded caves first before going to the crystal cave! By then, the crowd has dispersed! He allowed us to take as much time as we would like! The whole tour lasted for almost 3 hours! He also helped to take fantastic pictures and suggested good spots to capture pictures! I was told they are able to do customised tour for you! Highly recommend!

We can highly recommend Siggi's custom tour planning. He showed us places we would never have gotten to on our own, and he spoke with great enthusiasm and knowledge about this area in which he lives. He is a true outdoorsman and an excellent ambassador for Iceland. His jeep was very comfortable and safe, and we felt completely at ease with Siggi as our guide.

A day to remember

We loved our superjeep tour with Siggi because he's so passionate about this area where he grew up and still calls home. Even though the weather was cruddy that day, we still enjoyed visiting the National Park's glacial lagoons, as well as a super-secret cave and waterfall that made our two boys (8 &10) feel extra special. (Plus they loved splashing through the water in the jeep!) Just tell Siggi what kind of experience and sites you want in your tour, and he'll make sure you get it!

We did a lot of homework on Vatnajokull ice cave day trips and operators before deciding to go with South East Iceland. Hugely glad that we did. Siggi was a great host and guide, sharing both his knowledgeable insights and great sense of humour. This trip was the highlight of our stay in Iceland.

“There are lots of Siggis in Iceland but you really should meet this one.”
